Corporate Relations Development Officer
Department: Development Office Reports To: Director of Development Job Description: The Development Officer, who will manage sponsorship activity for the Flint Cultural Center Corporation, will work with the Development Office team and assume major responsibility for securing gifts in support of sponsorship activity for the member organizations’ programming efforts. This person will demonstrate a high level of commitment to strong verbal, written and organizational skills, and demonstrated self-motivation and creativity, attention to precise detail and the ability to work with a diverse group of people, all of which contribute to the enhancement of the FCCC sponsorship program. The Development Officer will be responsible for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for sponsorship donors, and secure gifts in accordance to the needs of the FCCC and its member organizations. Job responsibilities include the following: To identify area and regional corporations that have an interest in supporting the Flint Cultural Center Corporation’s various programs, operations, exhibits and performances at Whiting, Sloan Museum, Longway Planetarium. Responsibilities Include: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assume major responsibility for the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for sponsorship activity. 2. Work with Development Director to develop, plan and implement a multi-year sponsorship campaign. 3. Create sponsorship information packages for each member organization. 4. Create a sponsorship prospect inventory and provide management of sponsor project and attendant activity. 5. Design and create sponsorship presentations with the FCCC marketing department that clearly articulate the goals of the FCCC and the member organizations and their commitment to our sponsors. 6. Arrange and attend appointments with potential corporate sponsors 7. Meet on a regular basis with the four institutions of FCCC to discuss funding opportunities and potential prospects. 8. Develop perquisites for gift giving levels. 9. Write proposals and follow-up letters. 10. Assist Development Director with sponsorship fulfillment, stewardship and corporate relations. 11. Prepare and send invoices to corporate receivables. SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Support the overall operations of the Development Department by participating in other fundraising campaigns and participating in other Department activities as requested by the Development Director. 2. At the request of the Development Director, conduct liaison activities with other organizations that further the objectives of the Development Department and the FCCC. 3. Assist in planning and execution of special events. Qualifications/Skills Required: QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED 1. Must have be detail oriented with excellent oral and written skills. 2. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to complete complex tasks successfully. 3. The ability to work well with others and follow up on tasks in a timely fashion. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE At least three years experience in fund development required. Bachelor’s Degree (preferred), or equivalent experience.
